connection from MDSF to PM

I have had some internal requests from the OpCo’s regarding a connection from MDSF to PM. Currently, there is no way to safely receive a JDF ticket + PDF from the MDSF backend unless you use the ePS Remote Print Centre and a bespoke script (one I received from someone in your dev team a while back) running on a Windows server.

Whilst this does work, it is over complicated and we cannot sell it as a ‘solution’ together with MDSF and PM.

I believe I have requested this before a while back. It would be great to let PM have the ability to receive jobs in a smart and seamless way. I have copied in part of an email from one of the OpCo’s who has just sold MDSF and PM into a large customer.

Deal is a 7200 with Fiery plus 2 x 8310 with GW

When I asked about MDSF connection to the Pro 8310S with no Fiery controllers in the deal I was told all mono print files will have to be manually downloaded then sent to print from a printer driver, on completion MDSF then manually updated. Long winded, too many touch points.

The mono Fiery’s were ruled out because of cost.

I was shocked to find out MDSF has no direct connection to PM.

Surely we as Ricoh are missing a big opportunity here. This machine config is typical in the CRD/ Educational sector.

We could really add value and reputation to our software if after some research this connection could be successfully made.

This is not a moaning email, I think with the right effort in place we could have many more PM opportunities and maybe a really strong USP.

Could you please take some time to investigate whether this can be a viable solution to be developed? I believe it would be a huge step in true automation for our products.

I do not believe it would take too much investment, and in the current market place, we really need a differentiator between us and our competitors.
